Brian McSherry Honored for Outstanding Community Service

(Springfield, IL) - The Professional Independent Insurance Agents of Illinois (PIIAI) honored Brian McSherry, Huxtable Insurance Agency in Flanagan, for outstanding community service during the association's annual convention in Springfield.

McSherry was recognized for his commitment to preserving downtown Flanagan. When the town's 50-year old hardware store announced its plans to shut down without an interested buyer, McSherry and a group of local investors created the Flanagan Community Corp. and purchased the store.

After weathering a slow winter season, the corporation is working to find the right mix of products needed to make the Flanagan Hardware Store succeed. Eventually, the corporation hopes to turn the store into a business that will attract a buyer who will settle down in the community and help keep downtown Flanagan Viable.

The Professional Independent Insurance Agents of Illinois is an association representing independent insurance agents throughout the state. PIIAI membership is comprised of 1,500 insurance agencies representing 12,000 licensed independent agents engaged in all facets of the insurance industry, including property, casualty, life and health. Its members are businesses that offer customers a choice of policies from a variety of insurance companies.
