Joy Litwiller to be Awarded G.A. Mavon Memorial Scholarship

Springfield, Ill., (September 23, 2002)-The Professional Independent Insurance Agents of Illinois (PIIAI) will present the G.A. Mavon Memorial Scholarship to Joy Litwiller of Danvers, Ill., at the association's annual convention, Oct. 2-4 at the Crowne Plaza in Springfield.

As the recipient of the G.A. Mavon Memorial Scholarship, Litwiller will receive a $1,000 payment to her college for two semesters. The award is presented annually to a student who is studying business with a focus on insurance. Applicants must submit letters of recommendation and an essay exploring what contributions the insurance industry makes to society. Litwiller's winning essay focuses on "sharing the loss" and other basic principles of insurance.

Litwiller is currently studying business management at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Ill. She has recently joined Hacker Insurance Agency in Charleston. Prior to her employment at Hacker Insurance Agency, Litwiller worked through the summer months and during school holidays as an intern for Heartland Insurance Services, in Danvers.

The Professional Independent Insurance Agents of Illinois is an association representing independent insurance agents throughout the state. PIIAI membership is comprised of 1,500 insurance agencies representing 12,000 licensed independent agents engaged in all facets of the insurance industry, including property, casualty, life and health.
