Marilyn Liming Honored for Outstanding Community Service

(Springfield, IL) - The Professional Independent Insurance Agents of Illinois (PIIAI) honored Marilyn Liming, Prairie State Insurance in Decatur, for outstanding community service during the association's annual convention in Springfield.

Marilyn Liming was honored for her support of the Easter Seals since the 1960s, when her 4-H Club sold Easter Lilies to raise funds for the organization. In the early 1970s, Liming moved to Decatur and became a member of the local Board of Directors.

She served on the Board of Directors in Decatur as a board member, secretary, president-elect, and president, multiple times. She has received the local board award as Volunteer of the Year twice, and has been recognized for her service and leadership to the organization. Liming has also served as a member, and officer, in many capacities, of the State Easter Seals Board of Directors.

Liming's local organization has undergone a recent update and new building construction and added day care facilities. During the upgrade, she served on numerous committees and spent time in travel to other facilities to gain information and knowledge to implement into the local facility. The Illinois state board also opened new day care facilities in recent years and this knowledge was shared with state facilities also.

The Professional Independent Insurance Agents of Illinois is an association representing independent insurance agents throughout the state. PIIAI membership is comprised of 1,500 insurance agencies representing 12,000 licensed independent agents engaged in all facets of the insurance industry, including property, casualty, life and health. Its members are businesses that offer customers a choice of policies from a variety of insurance companies. In addition to serving the professional needs of members, PIIAI works for the betterment of the insurance industry through legislative and consumer awareness programs.
