PIIAI Announces Winners of IIAJC Local Tournament
(Springfield, Ill., July 3, 2002)-Josh Hart of Cordova shot a 69 and Samantha Sutzer of Springfield shot a 76 to top the respective divisions at The Oaks in Springfield on July 2, 2002 in the local Independent Insurance Agent Junior Classic (IIAJC) qualifying tournament.
In the girls division Nancy Featherstone of Franklin finished second in the event with a 78. Jordan Cox of Springfield and Brady Evans of Virden tied for second place by shooting 73s, followed by Braxton Weaver of Bloomington with a 74, and Jason Armour of Raymond and Chad Rich of Robinson who shot 76s.
The top six boys and the top girl at The Oaks qualified for the IIAJC State Finals scheduled for July 24-25, 2002 at Lick Creek Golf Course in Pekin. Sutzer will be unable to play in the Pekin event due to a scheduling conflict. Consequently, Featherstone, the runner-up, will advance to the state tournament.
Winners of the state finals will advance to the national finals set for August 12-16, 2002, at Northgate Country Club in Houston, Texas.
This year, hundreds of Illinois youths entered 17 tournaments around the state, according to local IIAJC Chair Sandy Cuffle, of the Professional Independent Insurance Agents of Illinois (PIIAI) in Springfield. Nationally, 10,000 boys and girls played in more than 400 local and state-qualifying tournaments organized by nearly 2,000 independent insurance agents.
