Junior Golf Classic State Tournaments Scheduled

Springfield, IL - The Professional Independent Insurance Agents of Illinois announces the kickoff of its statewide junior golf program. The Independent Insurance Agent Junior Classic (IIAJC) is now in its 34th year.

The IIAJC of Illinois is a source of great pride for independent insurance agents. The tournament was initiated in order to illustrate to the public the active participation of agents in a worthwhile and successful project. The Illinois Tournament is sponsored by the Professional Independent Insurance Agents of Illinois (PIIAI). On the national level the tournament is sponsored by the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (IIABA).

Young golfers-in boys and girls divisions-compete in local and state qualifying tournaments for spots in the national IIAJC tournament. Twenty local qualifying tournaments have been scheduled statewide, with the top qualifiers advancing to the IIAJC State Tournament to be held at Lick Creek in Pekin, Illinois, on July 24-25. Qualifiers from the state tournament will advance to the 2002 IIAJC National Finals on Aug. 12-16, 2002, at the Northgate Country Club in Houston Texas. This year six boys and two girls will represent Illinois in the national tournament.

Entry forms for local qualifying tournaments are available from Sandy Cuffle at (800) 628-6436, ext. 3007, or by visiting www.chooseindependent.com/golf. The tournament is open to golfers 18 years of age (they cannot turn 19 before August 15, 2001) and under who have not started college.

The Professional Independent Insurance Agents of Illinois is a trade association representing independent insurance agents throughout the state. PIIAI membership is comprised of 1,500 insurance agencies representing 15,000 licensed independent agents engaged in all facets of the insurance industry, including property, casualty, life and health. Its members are businesses that offer customers a choice of policies from a variety of insurance companies. In addition to serving the professional needs of members, PIIAI works for the betterment of the insurance industry through legislative and consumer awareness programs.
