What kinds of opportunities are available?
Keep in mind that
there are almost as many jobs in insurance as there are people who work
in it. At last count there were more than two billion jobs in one industry!
Some different areas include:
- Life and health
insurance covers all the risks associated with human life;
- Property insurance
covers damage to property such as homes, cars and businesses;
- Liability
insurance covers a client who is unintentionally, but legally,
responsible for bodily injury or property damage that is caused to
another person.
Insurance agents
can either be employed within an agency or a company. An insurance
company raises money by investing the premiums obtained from all
policies to pay policy holders. An insurance agency acts as a
link between the customer and the insurance company.
Captive agents
sell insurance for only one company or agency, and offer only the products
provided by that company.
Independent agents
are business owners who represent several insurance companies and can
offer many different kinds of policies to their customers. This type
of agent can shop around for the best insurance value among many competing
companies.
Today's consumer
demand more for their insurance dollar than ever before, and independent
agents are able to deliver the best solution because of their access
to all the products of the many companies they represent.
Independent agents
own their own businesses and work for their clients. As small business
owners, they operate outside of insurance company management -- you
work directly for your personal success by owning your own business
and working for yourself and your clients.
